Carol Carbutti, the Owner Comfort Keepers in Wallingford, CT would like to Inform Senior Family Members About the Veterans Non-Service Connected Improved Pensions Program

By Carol Carbutti

If you are a senior veteran or surviving elderly spouse of a retired veteran requiring in-home care or the assistance of a caregiver in your daily life, you may be eligible to receive retirement pension benefits from the Veterans Administration.

This pension benefit program is federally funded for senior veterans and/or their surviving spouses.  It’s designed to fund in-home care for those who meet established criteria.  It may be in addition to a VA Pension or a VA Compensation.

Do I Qualify for the Veterans Improved Pension?

Military Qualifications:

·                     1. You must have received an honorable discharge.

·                     2. You must have served 90 days of active military duty and at least one day must have been during a period of war.

·                     3. You must be disabled or over age 65.

In addition to the military qualifications there are income and asset qualifications.  Each situation is unique and should be evaluated to determine qualifications.
